‘There is no place for antisemitism’, says Labour’s Bridget Phillipson

Shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson discusses calls for Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley to resign over his force’s handling of pro-Palestinian protests.

It comes amid the controversy over a Met Police officer telling a Jewish man that he could not cross the road during a march because he was “openly Jewish”.

She told Sky News “there is no place for antisemitism” and the Met Police will have the responsibility to “rebuild trust with the Jewish community”.

As the aspiring education secretary, she also spoke of her desire to “support the next generation of sporting heroes” by increasing opportunities for young people to practise sport.
