Birmingham witnessed chaotic scenes as hundreds gathered in response to fake news about a far-right protest, resulting in violence and vandalism.
Crowds formed near a McDonald’s by Heartlands Hospital in Bordesley Green, but tensions escalated when a group of masked Muslim youths broke away.
Armed with weapons, they attacked several vehicles near Stechford police station and a pub, The Clumsy Swan in Yardley.
The West Midlands police reported at least three cases of criminal damage, one incident involving an offensive weapon, and an assault.
This unrest mirrors recent clashes across the UK, following the fatal stabbing of three children in Southport last week.
False rumors that the suspect was a Muslim refugee have been partly to blame for the riots.
