Sir Keir Starmer will warn that the UK’s problems will deepen before improving.
In a speech on Tuesday, the Prime Minister is expected to blame the “rubble and ruin” left by the Conservatives, insisting there are no quick fixes. He will also accuse the previous government of hiding the true state of public finances.
The Conservatives, however, claim Labour is exaggerating a financial crisis to justify tax hikes. They have also demanded Starmer reverse cuts to winter fuel payments, arguing they will leave pensioners “in the cold.”
