“I Want Him To Be Prosecuted!” Jenrick Calls For Minister To Be ‘Sacked’ Over Solicitor CV ‘Lie’
A Cabinet minister accused of misrepresenting his legal career has corrected the record in Parliament for describing himself as a solicitor in a 2014 speech.
Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said he should have made clear that he was a trainee solicitor when speaking during a debate on high speed rail.
The term “solicitor” is legally protected and it is an offence for someone to call themselves a solicitor if they are not qualified and registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick says Mr Reynolds should be “prosecuted”.
He tells Mike Graham: “He’s broken the law. He’s bang to rights!”
