Keir Starmer and three Cabinet members have received over £1 million from casino bosses and freebies from betting companies, raising concerns about Labour’s ties to the gambling industry.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves accepted musical tickets and £20,000 in donations from betting bosses, while Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds and Transport Secretary Louise Haigh received tickets and gifts from gambling firms. Health Secretary Wes Streeting also accepted a £700 dinner from a lottery operator.
Starmer received £25,000 from Bet365 chair Peter Coates during his leadership campaign.
Labour has reportedly received £1.08 million from the gambling sector, mostly from casino owner Derek Webb.
