BBC “Did The Right Thing” In Keeping Huw Edwards On The Payroll
Political commentator Robert Taylor says the BBC “did the right thing” in keeping Huw Edwards on the payroll after he had been arrested.
BBC boss Tim Davie has defended his decision to not fire the newsreader, despite knowing he had been arrested in November over the most serious category of indecent images of children.
In an interview with BBC News, the corporation’s director-general was questioned on why he continued to employ the veteran broadcaster until April, when Edwards resigned on medical advice.
On Wednesday, Edwards admitted three charges of making indecent photographs of children after he was sent 41 illegal images by convicted paedophile Alex Williams, with seven being of the most serious type.
Robert says: “He wasn’t guilty until proven guilty and therefore he should receive his salary.”
